Loose Content are a three-piece indie/alt-rock band formed in the hinterlands of Byron Bay during high school. Now based in Melbourne/Naarm, the band comprises MiLLa(vocals, bass, 21), Sam Sanders (guitar, 21) and Aquila Porter (drums, backing vocals,19).
Their sound draws from The Police, Radiohead, PJ Harvey and Midnight Oil fusing the urgency of punk and the melodic sensibility of Britpop with a distinctly Australian bite. The band first turned heads with their debut EP Costumes, recorded with Nick DiDia (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against The Machine, Powderfinger), which showcased their raw storytelling and dynamic live energy.
Since then, they’ve gone on to play Byron Bay Bluesfest, Woodford Folk Festival, SXSW Sydney, and BIGSOUND, earning high praise from Dave Rowntree of Blur, who publicly declared them his favourite band of the festival.
With this new body of work, produced by Dan Luscombe (Courtney Barnett, Amyl & The Sniffers), due for release in early 2026, Loose Content are staking their claim as one of Australia’s most exciting and vital young voices — unafraid to merge political commentary, irony, and youthful defiance into something entirely their own.
